"Katharine Gun, 29, is facing trial at the Old Bailey, charged under the Official Secrets Act with disclosing secret information in the weeks leading up to the war against Iraq. She didn't give away any information that threatened lives, or placed the security of the UK at risk. She disclosed that the United States Security Agency wanted the British Government to help in the illegal surveillance of the six delegations holding the balance of power in the UN Security Council in its crucial vote for a resolution in support of war. Katharine Gun did what she thought was right. Now she faces two years in jail.
